The European Atlas of the Seas (EAS)

The European Atlas of the Seas (EAS) is an easy to use and interactive web-based atlas on the coasts and seas within and around Europe. Since September 2017, Seascape Belgium has taken over the management and further development of the European Atlas from the Joint Research Centre (JRC). Following an intensive initial period, a new version of the Atlas was released on the 11 June 2018, offering new features and more content. More than 120 new map layers were added, mostly provided by EMODnet and Eurostat. The tool is targeted towards wider public and professionals without technical expertise and is freely accessible on the internet. Next to the English version, soon it will be consultable in all languages of the European Union. The Atlas is funded by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, in the context of the implementation of the integrated maritime policy.
